A Message from Pastor Hahn
Dear KUMC family and friends,
I greet you all in the name of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, the Hope for the world.
For some of you, Christmas is your favorite time of the year. I am sure that our little children are already thinking about their Christmas gift. I see the joy and excitement among people. I wish everyone in the world could experience the joy and peace of this time of the year. However, I also hear stories of challenges and struggles that our neighbors, who are both near and far, experience this time of year.
Recently, we experienced terror attacks in Paris and the U.S. and saw so many innocent people who lost their precious lives. We are still shaken by this news. Whenever we hear this kind of horrible news, we wonder “Will the evil acts of this world ever end?”
We try to find hope in our life. Our Brothers and sisters on other side of the world still live in fear of war and look for peace. So many refugees are looking for safety and their new home to provide peace. I also know the holiday season is not easy to celebrate for some of our church family because their loved ones are not able to be with them physically anymore. I wish everyone in the world could experience joy and peace at this time of year.
As we hear the stories of pain and news of war, we wonder where we can find hope and joy. We also wonder, “Can the Christmas story, the birth of Jesus Christ, become the good news for people who look for hope, peace, and joy?”
I believe when the world was confused and lost its hope, God sent His only son, Jesus Christ, to the world as a new hope. This story of Jesus still brings hope and salvation for the world and builds up hope and peace among us and with us in our broken world.
Advent is the season that we prepare our hearts to receive this savior whom God sent to us as hope and peace. I would like to invite you all to walk this journey of Advent together and look for the signs of hope, peace, and joy even in our brokenness.
